5 Tips to Improve Your Plumbing

Howdy folks! It’s your super-friendly, neighborhood plumbing team coming out with another blog post about your home plumbing system. Sure, it might not seem like the most exciting topic to talk about, but you’ll notice by the end of this blog post that saving money on plumbing appliances could be the best news you’ve gotten this year.

So, to put it bluntly, we’re going to talk about some nifty ways you can keep your plumbing in great shape going forward in 2021. No, these aren’t incredibly expensive, and they’re not the kinds of tips that require you to go above and beyond. We’re just trying to make it normal for homeowners to care about their plumbing in Boynton Beach, FL almost as much as we do!

So sit tight, grab some popcorn, maybe even a pen and paper, and read about how you can help your plumbing system.

Tip #1: Mesh Screens Are Very Helpful

We talk about mesh screens a little too often on this blog, but they’re always welcome in our field. Mesh screens used on drains, showers, and other plumbing appliances are wonderful. They catch food and other particles before they become a problem in your drain. We can say for certain that homes with mesh screens tend to last a lot longer in between plumbing calls, which means they’re saving a good amount of money.

Tip #2: Check Your Water Meter

Your home’s water meter is a useful tool. For instance, if you suspect an appliance is using too much water or that there’s a leak in your home, why not read the meter while it’s running? It should tell you how much water is being used and give you some insight on how you can curb your water usage in the future.

Tip#3: Tell Us How You Feel

The water that you experience in your home should make you feel good. It should be refreshing in the summer and comfortable in the winter. If you’re noticing skin irritation, discoloration of your water, or strange tastes and smells then you should be loud and clear. Nobody said you have to tolerate water that makes you unhappy, and no, it’s probably not just the water of your area. It could be the corrosion or deterioration of your pipes, or the lack of water treatment. Either way, call us and tell us how your water feels.

Tip #4: Don’t Settle

Too many homeowners get used to poor water, poor plumbing systems, or unsanitary conditions. Time and time again we see homes that could benefit from maintenance or a backflow preventer, only to reach a point where the homeowner thinks there’s no point, since it’s not broken yet. There are likely improvements that can be made to your plumbing system and you should call us to schedule them!

Tip #5: No Chemicals!

Chemical cleaners, drain uncloggers, and other materials may look nice and shiny on the shelves of your local grocery store—but they’re often not the best option. They may degrade your plumbing system, cause harm to your health, and lead you to be pretty uncomfortable down the line. No chemical cleaner will replace an old-fashioned plumbing appointment.
